Governor palace facing the Koningsplein in the old Batavia was built in 1873 after the old palace was deemed too small for the administration of the Dutch East Indies.
Today, the building still stands and is part of the Presidential Palace complex. It is called Istana Merdeka and used as both the residence and office of the President of Indonesia.
